CHANGE IS INEVITABLE

   Change management is the discipline that guides how we prepare, equip and support individuals to successfully adopt change in order to drive organizational success and outcomes Management of change is usually interpreted as relating to permanent changes to equipment, procedures, processes, or personnel, but temporary changes have contributed to a number of catastrophic events over the years.

    Written documentation of normal process parameters, use of standard operating procedures, management sign-offs, and clear communications are necessary. Change destabilizes equilibrium, and employees need to become familiar with and have the ability to predict the outcomes of their tasks. Educate employees on the different stages associated with the change model and help employees recognize where they are in the process. Give them the tools needed to be successful:


  • Clear objectives, direction, and goals
  • Information, resources, and training
  • Assignments that align with their knowledge and skills
  • Timely feedback and positive reinforcement
  •   

    ADVANCEMENTS IN TECHNOLOGY

       The laboratory environment has been characterized by ongoing rapid and dramatic innovation . There has been remarkable growth in the range and complexity of available tests and services, which is expected to continue. Innovation in laboratory technology, which includes both new tests and advances in equipment and testing techniques, has made testing more efficient and automated. With the help of this advances laboratory test and results may be easily and accurately done. 

       Laboratory automated and manual processes occur in three stages which includes Pre-analytic stage this includes, choosing the test, ordering the test, patient preparation, specimen collection and transportation. Analytic stage this involves actual testing of the specimen and all routine procedures up to reporting of results. Post-analytic stage concerns with the forwarding of results to the appropriate hospital department or physician.c

    SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY

          
        The first thing to always remember when working in a laboratory  is safety. The most important reason why you should always be safe is because many things in the lab can be harmful to you and to other people. Machines may fluctuate, toxic substances may be spilled, sharps and broken glasses may cause injury and even combustible materials may cause fire.

           You should know the possible hazards inside the lab. MSDS is very important, it contains the detailed safety information about each hazardous substances. At all times, Treat all blood, tissue, body fluids and other potentially infectious materials as equally threatening. Most especially wearing of Personal Protective Equipment is essential when entering in the lab, to protect yourself from any risk and hazards. As they say "Personal protective equipment is self-defense."

     Preventive maintenance is regularly performed on a piece of equipment to lessen the likelihood of it failing. Preventative maintenance is performed while the equipment is still working, so that it does not break down unexpectedly. 

    The main goal is to prevent the failure of equipment before it actually occurs. Preventive maintenance activities include equipment checks, partial or complete overhauls at specified periods. In addition, workers can record equipment deterioration so they know to replace or repair worn parts before they cause system failure. 

    Long-term benefits of preventive maintenance include:
    • Improved system reliability.• Decreased cost of replacement.• Decreased system downtime.• Better spares inventory management.

    QUALITY ASSURANCE

    Quality Assurance is the planned or systematic actions necessary to proved enough confidence that a product or service will datisfy the given requirements for quality.

    Good QA system does these four things:
    • establishes standard operating procedures (SOPs) for each step of the laboratory testing process, ranging from specimen handling to instrument performance validation; 
    • defines administrative requirements, such as mandatory recordkeeping, data evaluation, and internal audits to monitor adherence to SOPs;
    • specifies corrective actions, documentation, and the persons responsible for carrying out corrective actions when problems are identified; and
    • sustains high-quality employee performance.



    IMPROVE COMMUNICATION PROCESS

    Have you ever felt the messages you convey are not communicated properly or have you ever felt guilty of not conveying the message as it wants to be conveyed

    Senders and receivers are of course vital in communication. In face-to-face communication the roles of the sender and receiver are not distinct as both parties communicate with each other, even if in very subtle ways such as through eye-contact (or lack of) and general body language.
